Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
I understand and acknowledge that, as a classical musician, I perform and teach in spaces that have traditionally been unwelcoming and unsafe to all but a very privileged few. While I cannot change the past, and I certainly will not be perfect in the future, I pledge to be an enthusiastic and proactive advocate for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. My work in this area is focused on three central areas:
Promoting Diversity by incorporating assignments, repertoire, and listening examples that reflect a diverse array of composers, performers, and artists.
Improving Equity by making a substantial percentage of my teaching studio space available to underrepresented students at no cost or a substantial discount.
Fostering Inclusion by making my studio a safe space that is welcoming to all students, regardless of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, religion, socio-economic status, or disability.
